Warning: date() [function.date]: It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected 'America/Chicago' for 'CDT/-5.0/DST' instead in /backup/qa/www/sub/rss/product.php on line 32

I used it to erase the MBR\'s on a HDD and on a SSD. The utility worked perfectly, however I was confused about the \"start record/sector is 2160 and should be 2188\" would you like to change it? (I don\'t recall the exact #\'s). I allowed the utility to make the changes, but it would have been nice to have a pop-up or help file explaining what this is , why it may be there etc. Since it was found on all 3 of my installed drives, I began to doubt its accuracy, and in the end wondered if I should have allowed the changes. Also, because it\'s a dos based utility, and I am not sure how up to date it is, I was doubtful this (start record)applied to newer disks. Again, a little explanation around it would go a loooong way. : ) Thanks again for the utility. It worked for me, it\'s free, and I would use it again if needed.

Rick

On my laptop I had Windows XP on one partition, and some unallocated space. I intended to use this space to create a further partition with Linux. But having used the Windows recovery disk, odd things happened. Windows would not boot, and drive C with Windows on it suddenly became drive E!

Super FDisk saved the day! I only had to boot FDisk once (from a CD burnt using the downloaded program on a separate PC), and FDisk immediately diagnosed that I had an "unidentified partition" which was actually a NTFS partition with Windows XP thereon. Correcting this meant pressing only one button. Now XP boots perfectly normally and drive C has been reinstated. I have been able to partition and format the remaining unallocated space ready for installation of Linux. Brilliant!

It was easy enough to create a bootable floppy using FDisk (I am working with a *very* old computer!) and this will prove useful in future.

Warning: date() [function.date]: It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected 'America/Chicago' for 'CDT/-5.0/DST' instead in /backup/qa/www/sub/rss/product.php on line 46

I run W98SE on a (no, don't laugh) Pentium II. It does what I need for working, rather than playing. I bought a second hard drive, taking me from 3Gb to a vertiginous 43. Partitioned the new drive with Partition Magic, all well, made a 10Gb part. for Linux, to run a dual-boot. I installed a Mandrake 8 build, but it fucked up the MBR on both disks, so I had to re-install Win through the DOS to get my C drive back. The second drive had gone well weird, and P.Magic was no help - I suppose that the MBR was corrupt. I ran SFD, and although the mouse would not respond, a series of automatic messages found and fixed errors on both disks, and now all is well. So, thanks, even though I don't really understand what it did, not having had access to the menus...

simeon@raindropkites.co.uk

Partitioned the new drive with Partition Magic, all well, made a 10Gb part. for Linux, to run a dual-boot.
